Dr. Cohen came to Trinity, Florida Regional Campus, in 1981 (then Miami Christian College), serving as Academic Dean in 2000. Prior to this he served as President of Clearwater Christian College and Graham Bible Colleg, Brisol, TN. After teaching high school chemistry for two years, he taught Physics at Shelton College, then taught for eleven years at Faith and Biblical Theological Seminaries, where he also served as Director of Graduate Studies. He serves as President Emeritus of Cohen University, with affiliates in Seoul Korea, Osaka Japan, Lima Peru, Uraguay, San Paulo Brazil, and teaches annual seminars in Torrance CA and in Seoul, Korea. Dr. Cohen served in the United States military as a Chaplain (Colonel) in the USAR for 35 years. He was a Kewwick Bible Speaker in Hong Kong, and speaks annually at the Bethany Church in Glendale CA, at Park of the Pines Bible Conference, Seattle WA, and at the Joong Ang Pastors Conference, Seoul, Korea. For two decades Dr. Cohen was a speaker at Moody Prophecy Conferences in Toronto, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Denver, Seattle, and in the Chicago area. Miami area residents know Dr. Cohen for his “Dr. Breakfast” morning devotionals over WMCU during the 1980’s and 1990’s.
He and his wife, Marion, reside in Clermont, FL. They have three children and six grandchildren. Dr. Cohen was the designer and builder of the prototype City of Jerusalem model now housed at the Holy Land Experience, Orlando Florida. He has led fifteen tours to the Bible sites in Israel, Egypt, Greece, and Turkey. Dr. Cohen holds an FAA Commercial Pilot’s license and is certified as an FAA Ground Instructor. An article by him was published in the AOPA Pilot Magazine.
Dr. Cohen was one of the translators of the New King James Bible, and was the editor of the Encyclopedia of Christianity, Vol. 2 (J. Green Publishers) and has written eight books, and has had over a hundred articles published, most recently in Zion’s Hope Magazine. His writings have been translated into Korean, Japanese, Spanish, and Swahili. His articles appear in the Old Testament Word Book (Moody Press) and on NT Greek words in The Complete Bible Library. He edited the Red Letter New Testament (Turner Publishing, W Palm Beach, FL), and wrote reference notes for the Christian Life Bible and for the Kirban Prophecy Bible. His books include Understanding Revelation, Revelation Visualized written with Salem Kirban, Israel Land of Prophecy, The Horsemen Are Coming, Weep Nor for Me, Biblical Decision Making (science and the Bible), Hosea and Amos with H. Ron Vandermey, and From Persecution to Service: the Chaplain Gary Cohen Story.
